    This feature includes the introduction to the learning environment combined with the clear list of activities and steps. The introduction explains the idea behind the environment, the time frame, the outcome, and the expectations from the student.
    The navigation tool shows the exact steps of each activity, thus letting the student know exactly where he/she is in the general flow of learning.
    The Rationale Behind the Feature (Specific Design Principle):
    The introduction reduces the unfamiliarity and lets the students know on one hand side what to expect and on the other hand side what is expected of them.
    The navigation tool which lists the steps of the current activity combined with the clear introduction helps the learners know where they are in the general flow.
    Context of Use:
    This feature is the introduction to a WISE learning environment that teaches genetics through the story of Eric - a child with CF. Over a period of 5 days, the learner is introduced each day with an activity that deals with a different aspect of the subject. At the end the student is requested to write a report to the paper.
    A clear introduction can be used in any learning environment. The navigation tool can be part of any environment that is built as a series of activities/steps
